on Saturday last ; Earl Fitzwilliam was in the chair. From the Report of the Piovisioeal Committee, it appeared that the foundation of the Society had been laid by voluntaly contribution of books; and that arrangements had been made which enabled the Committee to open a house in Sloane Street (No. 30), for the purposes of the insti- tution. It was also stated, that Dr. Lardner and others had offered to give lectures gratuitously, and that the Duke of Sussex had consented to accept the °thee of Patnn, and Earl Fitzwiliiam that of President of the institution.
