Last night's Gazette notifies that the Queen has appointed Lord
Bel- haven to be her Majesty's High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland.
The appointment of James Douglas, Esq., to be Governor and Com- inander-in-chief in and over the Island of Vancouver and its dependen- cies is announced in the Gazette.
Lieutenant-Colonel Thomas Gore Browne, C.B. of the Twenty-first Fusiliers, has been appointed Governor of the island of St. Helena, in the room of Sir James Emerson Tennent resigned.—Globe.
