Hope, with news from the seat of the Caffre war. The position of things had little changed, and it certainly appears doubtful whether a vague and incon- clusive struggle may not be indefinitely prolonged. Sir Harry Smith re- mained at King William's Town, unable to execute a great combined ,operation from want of means.
