Sir: Under 'Cooling it' in the 27 October issue, Taki wrote: 'I've made a pledge not to turn the heat on in my flat until Arthur Scargill defects to Libya.'

Can someone enlighten me how it is that your high life correspondent, who usually knows mainly about night clubs and star- lets, was able to reveal, almost a week before it happened, Scargill's Libyan con- nection?
