Mr. Spence makes another misstatement, which, among so many, it
is, perhaps, scarcely worth while to expose. Ile says, " There is no evidence, nor is there any probability, that troops had been sent to General Bragg from any" of the other Confederate armies before the battle of Chattanooga. There is absolute evidence on the statements of the Confederate organs themselves. Two distinct accounts, dated Atlanta, and published in the Richmond papers, mention the presence of Generals Lonstreet and Hill in the battle ; and General Hood, who commanded the Texans at Gettysburg, and re- treated with Lee to the Rappahannock, is among the slain.
