Sir: It was good to read Nicholas Ridley again in The Spectator last week ('What about the workers?', 3 October) — com- ment that will surely appeal to many of the natural Tory constituency who currently feel unappreciated and alienated.

Could one solution to our present prob- lem be for you, sir, to interview John Major on the subject of the Germans?
