Defamed
Sir: My attention has been drawn to an item in your magazine in which your television critic writes about Dr Goebbels's film of 'the ranting State prosecutor Roland Freisler, whose hysterical and flamboyant performance reminded me forcibly of someone else' (my italics).
This is clearly a typically snide reference to myself and is grossly defamatory. I am by now inured to Ingrams and his poisonous lackeys throughout the media and can treat his remarks with the contempt they deserve. I wonder, though, if Herr Ingrams ever pauses to consider the needless pain he inflicts on totally innocent parties who, unlike me, are in no position to defend themselves. I can take it, but your vindictive employee should be made aware of the appal lingldistress'his commentahavecaused my wives, lovers, children and live-in lawyers. I trust he sleeps well at night.
