Sir: As one who spent almost half his working life in the USA, and who is grateful for its forthright attitude to tackling possible environmental problems in a logical fashion, congratulations to Bruce Anderson on his approach to the subject (Politics, 28 July).

Anderson's piece was in welcome contrast to the disgraceful Heath so-called cartoon under 'Portrait of the week'. AntiAmericanism at its worst and unworthy of your publication.
