The Latest Nazi Mystery The suddenly staged demonstration at the
Kroll Opera House in Berlin last week was an astonishing affair even for Germany. A considerable element of mystery invests it still. That it should seriously have been thought capable of, impressing anyone inside or outside Germany as- a demonstration of Nazi unity is incredible. The unity may, in fact, have been ideal. But when such a gathering is held in strict secreey, and the papers print regarding it just precisely what they are told to print, the reports that do appear are rightly dismissed everywhere as negligible. The purpose and outcome of the meeting are still a mystery. It may be true that peace had too be made with the Reichs. wehr over the charges brought against the murdered General von Schleieher, and that some satisfaction was given them regarding that. The official reports, consist only of speeches made up of the usual extravagant eulogies of the regime and the Fiihrer. Conceivably that was enough in itself to satisfy propagandists as crude as General Goering and Dr. Goebbels, but it hardly seems likely on the face of it. ,
