CONSOLS HIGH RECORD.

A feature on Tuesday was the further big spurt in British Government securities, the advance apparently being due to some fairly large orders by financial institutions coming upon a market bare of stock. Whatever the cause the rise was most pronounced, and Consols at one time touched 93i, being quite the highest price touched for more than thirty years, or indeed since Consols were in their present form of 2j per cents. The 31 per cent. Conversion Loan also rose at one time to 1101, a figure which indicates how great has been the rise in Gilt-Edged securities during the past • two years, for the present price of the 3/ per cent. War Loan is far above the highest ever reached when the Stock was in the form of 5 per cents.
