LETTERS A taxing question

Sir: The comment by Christopher Fildes (City and suburban, 4 July) and the £200,000 shown in Hollis Industries' accounts as a payment to Geoffrey Robin- son, who denies receiving it, raise the ques- tion of whether this sum was allowed as an expense by the Inland Revenue on the company's tax assessment, thus saving a considerable amount of tax. The Inland Revenue should have received Mr Robin- son's annual P14 and P11D returns showing his salary and the amount of tax deducted and paid over to the Collector of Taxes.
