Prizewinner
I was pleased to see that Frank Tuohy, a former Spectator novel reviewer, has just been awarded the James Tait Black fiction prize for his novel, The Ice Saints, which was published by Macmillan last summer. At the time this book, a study of the English living beyond the Iron Curtain in Poland, was widely praised, and some reviewers compared Tuohy's insights into per- sonal relationships with those of 'E. M. Forster. And in the great tradition of so many other English writers, Tuohy is now once again living abroad teaching in a Tokyo university.
