In the British Common- wealth of Nations the will of the people must remain supreme, or, as the Rand Daily Mail has it, "There is no alternative save the setting up of an Imperial body whose judgment would override the ideas of the Dominion Government or the British Government, and neither the Dominions nor Great . Britain would consent to the magnifying of the Imperial Conference into such a supreme body." However much we may regret the fact no other attitude is possible if we desire to retain the Imperial Conference.
