No. 1354: Thriller filler

Set by Charles Seaton: At an interesting point in a paperback thriller some spilt liquid has obliterated part of a page and it now runs: 'I turned the handle . . .' and then goes on . . The head came away in my hand' (or it could be 'hands). You are invited to supply the missing passage (not more than 120 words). Entries to 'Com- petition No. 1354' by 25 January.

By courtesy of the publishers the top winner of this competition will also receive a copy of the recently published Dictionary of Political Quotations by Robert Stewart (Europa Publications, £18.50).
