The Portuguese Regency have decreed that the money due from
Brazils to Portugal, said to be about 1,600,000/., is to be applied to the payment of the British loans. The Duke of PALMELLA will probably soon join the Ministry. He is also mentioned as likely to be chosen President of the Chamber of Peers, when the Cortes assembles. The Governor of Madeira, till lately a violent Miguelite, has declared, with the garrison, in favour of the Queen; and a decree has been issued at Lisbon lowering the export duty on Madeira wine.
