No saint
Sir: I am not St Augustine. I did not intend last week (`God versus W.B. Yeats') to reinvent the City of God and put it down, of all places, in Dublin. I meant to refer to `the fundamental Catholicity of Eire' but some gremlin got in the machine and transmogrified my phrase to 'the catholic City of Eire'. I am sorry to say that no such place exists.
For future reference also, there is no apostrophe, in Bunreacht na hEireann. The apostrophe is as foreign to Gaelic orthography as divorce is to the constitu- tion of Eire.
