Sir: It will be apparent to anyone comparing national densities
set out on pages 199 et seq in Whitaker's Almanack 1971; that England and Wales have more mouths per square mile to feed than any EEC country, and hund- reds more than New Zealand. Aus- tralia or Rhodesia, whose poten- tial development is far, far greater than any of the European coun- tries, jind no doubt, when making larger use of their immense supplies of water, will eventually surpass even the large yields our farmers get, and will be able to support and no doubt want far more people.
No wonder the EEC countries want Britain in the European con- tinental encampment and would no doubt be more than delighted to share in the trade with the Commonwealth, and in some cases with the hand of Anglo-Saxon blood brothers from the ends of the earth.
Surrounded as she is by this EEC entity it is unexplained why Switzerland keeps out. Why?
Apart from an inbred wish to remain free and independent under the law of England, the Constitu- tion belongs to the People, not to any House of Commons, and if a referendum were held at any time. there can be no doubt as to the inclination and wishes of the great majority of the people. When Rud- yard Kipling wrote 'England's Answer' is seems odd that he re- ferred to 'the waxen Heath'.
