A better Chairman than Sir John Simon could hardly have
been found. He will bring to bear upon his subject not only a penetrating but a liberal mind. As for the Labour members of the Commission it is certain that they accepted 'membership with the consent of their Party. There is no excuse, therefore, for sacrificing Indian peace to party feeling in this country. Already there are threats of a boycott of the Commission in India On the ground that Indians are not directly repre- sented on the Commission, It is surely the duty of all who care for India not to encourage factitious opposition but to devote themselves to ensuring that all shades of Indian thought shall be considered, as it is unquestionably the intention of the Government that they should be.
