Sir: I am at a complete loss to under stand
why the Conservative Party is 50 committed to membership of the Common Market. It needs little more than a cursory glance to appreciate that most of the things the EEC stand for are more akin to socialism. Indeed, the idea of bringing together the individual nation states into a single federation or conglomerate, with its vast structure of bureaucracy, is nothing short of nationalisation — something I thought all Conservatives Were pledged to fight.
Yet here we are, in the Common Market, and it is the Labour PartY (minus the Hampstead set) who want to get us out. What is more they are even willing to let the public make the final decision. Is it any wonder that so manY Tories have lost faith in their leadership?
