Gd. per part)—Messrs. Harrison reprint here the official despatches from the seat of war, with the schedules annexed, &c. Part I. begins with Sir George 17Thite's despatch describing the operations from October 7th-25th, and covers something less than three months, the last affair described being that of Zoutpans Drift on December 15th, 1899; Part II. covers about six weeks, carrying us on as far as the Spion Kop affair at the end of January, 1900; Part III. is chiefly occupied with Colesberg, the relief. of Kimberley, and the occupation of Bloemfontein and Pretoria; in Part IV. the chief events are the march to Pretoria, with the fighting en route, and the relief of Mafelting.
