Almanack seems to reveal one of " the secrets of the Scot." May let was the date of the Union of 1707. One wonders whether an annual holiday in Ireland commemorating their Union would have helped Unionism there. Perhaps not! Who shall unveil "the secrets of the Irishman " P The New Year's holiday in Scotland is traceable to the influence exercised by France
