[To the Editor of the SPECTATOR.] SIR,—I am not anxious

to correct your would-be corrector, but I can assure " E. IL B.," from personal knowledge and long-standing friendship, that Sir Conrad Reeves, the justly respected Chief Justice of Barbados for ninny years, was by no means a "pure black." That he was a "coloured man" is indisputable ; nor was he ashamed of the fact.—I am, Sir, &c.,
