The Tory evening print mentions, that an address to the
King against the appointment of Dr. HAMPDEN to be Regius Professor of Divinity at Oxford, has been signed by inure than seventy Tutors and Fellows of the University, and transmitted to the Archbishop of CANTERBURY for presentation. The King will, of course, disregard this spiteful effusion of bigotry and party-spirit. Dr. HAMPDEN is represented to be in every way qualified for the Professorship by his theological ac- quirements, and his character is irreproachable.
