UNCLEAN

SIR,—Further to your comment recently regarding the candidature of two members of the Union Move' meat in Paddington, may I advise that I have been nominated as a further candidate for the Lancaster Gate West Ward? Regarding qualifications, I can give the utmost assurance that I am usually 'well scrubbed' and that part of my election address is devoted to un- restricted immigration. Under the circumstances, I would be obliged if you could indicate whether you intend sponsoring a leper or any other indi- vidual in opposition on the basis of preference as indicated in your original comment ("Spectator's Notebook,' May 18). Should you at any time find any difficulty in finding a candidate with the right qualifications, i.e., with leprosy or some similar obnoxious disease, we shall be most pleased to be of assistance. As you will no doubt agree, a newspaper should always be prepared to actively support the (mink)°, it expresses if it possesses the moral courage. This' no doubt, would prove an ideal opportunity to see whether the British public prefers a 'leper' to a B. A. AYREs National Party of Europe and Union Movement, West London Area Office,
