Sir: It is alarming that you believe public schools are like late-mediaeval monaster- ies . . ripe for dissolution' (Leader, 18 September). I am sure I recall that under several of your predecessors The Spectator was rather against the dissolution of the monasteries. Has there occurred a revision of editorial opinion on this important ques- tion, and, if so, why?
