This is the eighty-sixth yearly issue of an indispensable index

to publications. From the preface we learn that last year's new books numbered 8,754, three less than in the pre- vious year, while the new editions numbered 2,088, or 181 less than in 1921. Poetry and drama showed the largest increase, followed by books on games and sports, while books on history, travel, war and medicine were less numerous by about four hundred.
