Vaughan Williams Trust
Sir: In his interesting article 'FlelPing hands' (10 March) Mr Phillips says of the Ralph Vaughan Williams Trust that it hat not 'had to fulfil its original purpose'• 1311 this is exactly what it has done. It was started in 1956 by my husband and he financed by his income from thee Performing Rights Society, to help a widely and as wisely as possible the fabric of music. I am one of a committee which at his wish, made up of equal numbers of musicians and non-musicians, to admintstel_ what may be looked upon as his gift to the profession he served during his lifetime.
