Sir HENRY has declared that there is no foundation for the story that the supplemental treaty with China which he signed was fraudulently garbled : the report has arisen from variations in the extent to which several translations went, and is quite untrue. This is a satisfactory con- tradiction, and for all present purposes on sufficient authority.
