We were much pleased to give Atalanta a word of

commendation when it entered on its new career ; we are even more pleased to note that its promise is being sustained. The stories and illustrations in the January number are of a very high quality indeed ; and the short articles, each as "On Musical Analysis," by C. Hubert H. Parry, and "Our English Schools of Art," by J. Penderel-Brodhurst, are short and to the point. Mrs. Ritchie's paper on "Jane Austen " is almost an ideal article on such a subject for such a constituency as Atalanta' s.
