Sir: The account by Mr Jacob Morrin of a distinguished

Jew being blackballed for membership of Brooks's by an even more distinguished Jew (Letters, 7 January) calls to mind the occasion when one of our most distinguished Jewish members, Benno Moi- seiwitsch, was asked whether there was any anti-Semitism in the Savage Club. He paused briefly before answering, 'Only among the Jews.'
