Britain and Biafra
Sir: Many people would like to help Biafra . .4 survive. So far they have only been able to do it by contributing to charities such as Oxfam. There is an even more important need. Our association has existed for over a year, and we have, during that time, tried to edu- cate the British public to understand the realities of the situation. If we are to continue with this vital work, which includes main- taining pressure upon politicians, we must have more money.
We are making a direct appeal to the hearts and consciences of those of your readers who find this war abhorrent and Britain's direct in- volvement in it intolerable. Any reader who wants to help the starving children of Biafra should help us to keep up the pressure to stop this war.
We cannot act without funds. We are an organisation with no political backing, our members come from every political party. This makes for strength and dynamism on the one hand, but it makes for poverty on the other.
In the ideological confusions and betrayals of this twentieth century, here is one cause which goes straight to the heart of the matter —the survival of mankind.
