Buddock Against London. By Jan Gordon. (Blackwood. 7s. 6d. net.)—A
mechanic-lithographer with ambitions to be an artist falls in love with a country_ inn-keeper's daughter and takes her back to the difficult regions of London's art colony. The girl's devotion and courage and the young husband's own innate goodness pull them through a difficult period, and in the end they return to the country, finding it a better place for workers and artists alike than London. An _ agreeable if not remarkable novel.
