ZIGZAGS IN FRANCE,' AND VARIOUS ESSAYS. By E. V. Lucas.
(Methuen. 68.) Tins- aceount of- a -recent motoring holiday in France derives its interest and charm from the author's intimacy and candour. Mr. Lucas has none of the affectations or the feigned enthusiasms of the average tourist, but writes only of the things that really please him; such as the personality of "Albert," his chaffeur, or the wine at some remote wayside inn. The volume also includes a few general essays and a number of" varieties" in Mr. Lucas's well-known Punch vein.
