A Short Proof that Greek was the Language of Christ.
By Professor Roberts, D.D. (Alexander Gardner.)—The "short proof" is substantially this, that Christ in his discourses commonly appeals to the Scriptures as writings with which he and his hearers are familiar ; and that, as a matter of fact, neither the Hebrew original nor any Aramnan version of it was in the hands of the people at that time. What they had was the Greek version, commonly called the Septuagint ; though that name must not, of course, he supposed to imply the truth of the legend of the " Seventy."
