[To THE EDITOR OF THE "SPECTATOR."' SIR,—Would it not be
easier to do as all other nations do,- i.e., to rise earlier ? The English is the only nation in the world that lies in bed in the mornings. During the " light quarter " banks and shops could open at 7 o'clock. The people of all Continental countries are about and stirring at 6, a great number of them at 4 and 5 o'clock. The Eastern peoples rise even earlier.—I am, Sir, &c., Florence. CHARLES H. WATSON.
