GRAVELY and silently he nodded At the narration of the tale. Young, with an old man's wisdom, He stooped, eyes heavy-lidded, Gazing at hands death-pale.
Bravely, half a lifetime later, At the memory of that night, Old, with a young man's passion, He sang of times remoter, rathed in a morning light.
