HERBACEOUS BORDERS
Herbaceous borders are a delight in a gar- den and to establish a good border one must plant with the nature of the soil particularly in mind. The ground should be well drained, trenched and manured. If necessary the soil should be lightened by the addition of coarse sand and wood ash. Planting, with a variety of things from crocus to lupins, should be done with continuity of bloom in mind.
