Mr. Tarpey has been arrested. His wife was carefully watched,

and of course he came back to his wife, and to London, as a fly comes back to honey ; he was seized in the Marylebone Road with some of the diamonds taken from Mr. Ryder on him, and at- tempted no denial of his identity. The intellectual interest of the case entirely consists in the motive which drew Mr. Tarpey back to London from a country where he was safe, and with diamonds on him well to do.
