" PUNCH " GOES ON
Si;—! have read with considerable interest your contributor's, Mr. J. B. Atkins, comments on Punch in his new garb, and I agree substantially with his viewpoint. I wish, however, that he had been a little more emphatic about the lack of artistic /twit in the majority of the present- day illustrations—with the notable exception of cartoons. Messrs. Illingworth and Shepard are worthy successors of Tenniel and Linley Sambourne, but where are the successors of du Maurier, Keene, Phil May and Belcher ? Meanwhile, we 'may be thankful for the literary contributors and, above all, for Sir Alan Herbert.—Yours faithfully,
