Sir: Christine Verity in her article 'Blasphemy and the law' (25 March) states that `. . Mr Kavanagh was shocked' by the poem — James Kirkup's 'The Love that Dares to Speak its Name' — 'so deeply that he contacted Mrs Whitehouse'. Would you allow me to make it clear that this is inaccurate. I at no time contacted Mrs Whitehouse concerning my response to this poen'. K. H. Kavanagh
