The new Act for the regulation of Railways abolishes two
nuisances in railway traffic. The Companies are ordered to pro- vide means of communication between passengers and the guard, under penalty of 10/. for every instance of default, and are for- bidden to carry actors or spectators to a prize fight, under a fine -of 500/., half of which will go to the informer. This last regula- tion will probably put an end to prize fighting, as the river bank scan easily be watched, walking is too laborious, and a cavalcade of vehicles would attract the attention of the police at once.
