King Lear. By the Rev. Hunter, M.A. (Longman.)—Another of Mr.
Hunter's excellent little editions for students. The notes are short, simple, and to the purpose, and the play is prefaced by a selection of criticisms by Coleridge, Schlegel, and other well-known writers, as well' as a short introduction giving all necessary information as to the date of the play, the early editions, and the source of the plot. The only bad. side of such works is that they terribly facilitate the cramming process, which threatens the system of competitive examination more than alt the denunciations of the old school of officials.
