Sue,—Therc has been criticism of the Street Offences Bill on

the ground that it only sweeps the dirt under the carpet. But might not a truer analogy be that shops and hotels do best on main roads and not LIP side-streets?

1 should have thought that prostitutes soliciting in person tended to create a demand for their services while cards in a shop window would merely inform those who had already decided on their course of action.—Yours faithfully,
