ST. ROBERT BELLARMINE
SIR,—The answer to Professor Brogan's question is: in 1930. And in the following year he was declared a Doctor of the Church : thus being placed on a par with St. Augustine, St. Gregory the Great, et hoc genus oriole.
Perhaps Professor Brogan would care to send a small subscription to the movement for declaring St. Robert's illustrious opponent, King James I, a Doctor of the Anglican Church? He could then be declared patron of the anti-lung-cancer campaign, as he seems to have held strong views about tobacco.

PS. In case Professor Brogan would care to cele- brate St. Robert's feast-day, it is May 13. Except in Istanbul and in Biclla, where it's May 14. St. Robert is also—and this, 1 think, Professor Brogan will be particularly glad to learn—secondary (only secondary) patron of the diocese of Cincinnati, Ohio.
