Steer. By D. S. MacColL (Faber and Faber. 25s.)
D. S. WiacCou. is a most capable biographer ; he puts down the facts, describes relationships and assesses talent with skill, sympathy and a most understandable prejudice. He inspires in the reader an affection for his subject and no less does" he inspire an affection for himself. If you think highly of Steer, here is a standard work on him, catalogue and all. If you don't here is a readable book which will give you an understanding of his aims and a picture of the man which may make you change your• mind.
