Messrs. Duke and Johnson, the new Sheriffs, have presented a
re- port to the Committee of the Common Council on the state of New- gate. They recommend a variety of improvements, with a view to secure a classification of the prisoners.
The Revising Barristers for the City of London commence their examination of the voters lists to-day. The number of Tory objec- tions is :300, of Liberal 89. Mr. Charles Itoweroft will act as agent for the former and Mr. Heppel for the latter.
The amount subscribed to the Metropolitan Churches Fund is 7-1,S21/. 15s. Of this sum Members of the House of Commons have only contributed 1180/.
