[To the Editor of the SPECTATOR.] Sra,—In the concluding article,
" An Ordinary Man's Thoughts on the Drink Question," the writer states "there has been a great reduction of drunkenness." Alas f this does not apply to London, for the Home Secretary, Sir W. Joynson-Hicks, has recently said that convictions for drunkenness in London, since 1918, have more than trebled in the case of males, and
nearly doubled in the case of females. follows :—
