Pulling a fast one

Sir: It seems to me that the 27-year-old Woodrow Wyatt was outwitted by Gandhi (`Even his fasts were a fraud', 9 August). Aside from the usual gentle teasing, there was, apparently, a revelation from the Mahatma himself that his fasts were a con.

The wily old man could spot the gullible a mile off!
