and Darton.)—A. book, this, which besides containing much information, ecclesiastical and historical, is also of considerable prac- tical utility. The beat authorities have been consulted throughout, and a satisfactory result has been attained. The writer has not been able—indeed, it would scarcely have been desirable—to divest what he writes of the colour of personal opinion, but he is impartial and trustworthy.
