CARP
Sir: Discussing the current state of the press, Richard West (9 July) honours me by suggesting that I should be asked to lead CARP, the Campaign for a Real Press. In fact Routledge and Kegan Paul published my book The Press We Deserve a few years ago. More immediately, I am about to bring out The Vole, a new monthly magazine. Whatever faults it may have, I guarantee that over-staffing will not be one of them. Naturally I hope that Mr West will be among its contributors, and your readers among its subscribers.
